About the Event
With any job, practice makes perfect. That's why emergency response teams from all over the state put their skills to the test in the Victorian Mine Rescue Competition held at Fosterville Gold Mine in November last year. Simulated disasters create a controlled environment for teams of volunteer emergency responders to increase their confidence.
With scenarios like a rooftop rescue and a manufactured gas explosion, it made for an epic backdrop for a team of YTO interns to learn how to make a film.
In the lead-up to the film shoot, the interns learnt about interview techniques, framing, exposure and setting up the camera gear, all in preparation for the big day. Afterwards, they got to pick out the best shots, edit the footage and partake in a careers session to explore future possibilities. The resulting short documentary film will be used by project client, the Minerals Council of Australia, to promote future competitions.
Led by filmmaker Leonie Van Eyk, the interns developed team work, project management and organisational skills, and now have an impressive piece of work to show off in a job interview... and we'd love for you to come see it!
Join us and project client the Minerals Council of Australia for a film premiere screening and light refreshments to celebrate the interns' accomplishments.
