Youth-ify a Community Place for Castlemaine

Youth Take Over is giving 10 young people the chance to Youth-ify a Community Place for Castlemaine.

Castlemaine Community House (CCH) are doing powerful work to engage the community, and they need your help! Your job is to help CCH reimagine their Community Kitchen Garden through a youth lens. What do you think would attract young people? What do you think the town needs from a community space? How do you think you would gather that information?

There is a science to social planning that you and your team will harness to create a place in Castlemaine that is for young people, by young people. Together, you’ll learn the art of place-making, community engagement, co-design, and how to bring ideas to life. This is an excellent opportunity for young people to get involved in a unique project, upskill for future jobs, and to have a lasting impact.

This program is great for young people interested in getting creative, the design process, hands-on learning, youth and community services, place-making, gardening, landscaping, and event and project management. You’ll leave with a finished project under your belt, new friends and a bunch of work readiness skills.

You don't need to have done anything like this before – just be ready to learn! 

This program will span over 8 weeks, with one 3-hour session each week, plus some additional hours where you get to run the engagement activities you plan with your team. Youth Take Over can cover your travel and participation costs and can assist with transport if required. 

Sessions run at Castlemaine Community House from 3:30-6:30pm on Tuesdays, starting 29 August.
