What makes for a good customer service experience?

This was one of the first questions our team of Hospitality Kickstarters were asked when they began their Take Over at Kyneton Community House.

With pen and paper in hand, the interns went on a mission to visit local cafes and lunch spots and record what made them enjoy the experience. Using their findings as a launch point, our interns have been building up their customer service skills, getting food handling training, and making (and tasting!) their own coffee. This undercover mission paid off, as we were left with key takeaways. Good customer service starts with feeling welcomed and attended to, and all of the interns noted how important it is to welcome customers with a smile. With this knowledge grounding their training, the team has been building up to running their cafe for a day.

Guided by hospo whiz Alex from Kyneton Community House, the interns have shown up week after week to learn the art of making a cafe feel welcoming and safe - whilst also clean and pristine! With a freshly minted food safety certificate under their belts, it was time to get on the grind...

The team of 11 headed up the road to the Social Foundry in Kyneton to get their hands on their first coffee machine.

There, Sue-Lee and Josh from The Social Foundry took all the young people through milk frothing, lattes and pouring techniques. Every young person made their own first coffee, and we all left on a big buzz, from both the coffee and the pride.

Throughout the program, the goal has been to learn individual skills and how to be a part of a team, as the best hospitality crews know how to collaborate. Every workplace benefits from team players who also stay on top of individual tasks. Now the time has come to bring it all together to share with you what they have learned.

Please join us for a Take Over lunchtime service at the Good Food Hub.

All we ask is that you come hungry and ready to be caffeinated.

Vegan, glueten free and diary free options avaliable.

See you there!

This program is sponsored by the Agnico Eagle Community Partnership Program and partnered by Kyneton Community House, The Social Foundry, Daylesford Macedon Tourism and Central Ranges LLEN.
