About the Event
What is the importance of Citizen Science? And how do we get young people enthusiastic about it?
These questions were at the heart of our team of interns' work experience project for the North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA).
As this team of YTO interns learned, Citizen Science is crucial in conservation efforts, and together, they have designed a roadmap to bring young people into the fold.
Please join our interns as they share their recommendations to North Central CMA on How to Rally an Environmental Science Squad.
Through an 8-week-long work experience project, the team of six learnt first-hand about the role volunteers play in Ctizen Science and what that looks like in everyday life - testing the health of local waterways, setting up protections for turtles, and small efforts that create a big wave of change.
The team surveyed 246 other local young people to gauge how they feel about environmental volunteering. Come and hear all about their journey and their pitch to North Central CMA at their launch event.
Please arrive for a 12.30pm start.
A light lunch will be served at 1.30pm.
Youth Take Over is an initiative of North Central LLEN in partnership with the Loddon Campaspe LLENs and sponsored by the Agnico Eagle Community Partnership Program. The Rally an Environmental Science Squad Take Over was supported by the Victorian Government through the Environmental Volunteering New Growth Project.
