Boort District Health Heroes Showcase

Like any workplace, a hospital needs people with all different skills and areas of expertise to thrive. From gardeners to cleaners to nurses to administration, it takes every part of the ensemble to make the orchestra strong!

But for Boort District Health, attracting and sustaining such a diverse workforce can be challenging, and they are always looking for new ways to promote themselves as a workplace. In particular, they want young people and the broader community to see the many employment opportunities at the hospital, and for young people to see themselves working there.

Enter Youth Take Over, who engaged six Vocational Major students from Boort District School to work with Boort District Health on solving this challenge. The students were tasked with investigating the many different jobs at the hospital and shining a light on the roles and lives of six Boort District Health staff.

Through the 8-week-long project, the students got a real insight into the world of work, honed their teamwork, communication and project management skills and developed community and industry networks whilst also achieving Vocational Major Literacy outcomes.

The materials they produced will bring a local youth lens to Boort District Health’s recruitment packs, and we invite you to come and help launch them!
